Once every 30 years or so, the Mai Kai restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, refreshes the chairs that diners have been sitting on for the previous three decades. They did it again in 2009, and now the 1980s vintage chairs are up for sale to collectors who long to bring part of the Mai Kai home.
There are three styles of chair available, with and without arms. Prices vary from $40-$105 depending on the style and condition.
The article at the Miami Herald has all the details, plus some interesting historical facts about the restaurant's advertising designer, Al Kocab, who also designed some of the Mai Kai's distinctive tiki mugs.
