Trader Vic’s Emeryville to reopen September 28

Trader Vic's EmeryvilleTrader Vic's flagship location in Emeryville, California, which has been closed for renovations since April, is set to reopen on Tuesday, September 28, 2010.

Fellow tiki blogger and San Francisco resident Humuhumu published a sneak preview of the build-out in progress on her blog Humu Kon TIki and it looks like not only are things are coming along nicely, but the number of tikis and artifacts have actually increased with the redesign. Meanwhile, the SFGate website has published a brief rundown on the reopening with a concise list of changes.

To help get things kicked off in the social media space, the restaurant is hosting a contest on Facebook inviting home mixologists to create a new cocktail for the reopened location and make a YouTube video showing how it's made. The winner's drink will be featured at the restaurant for a month and the winner will bartend for an evening.
