The Reef Restaurant in Boise, Idaho has been fully decked out and decorated in tiki regalia since its opening in 2004 and now the menu has finally been updated to match.
Owner and tiki lover Dave Krick hired Chef de cuisine Nathan Whitley, who transformed the menu to have a polynesian/asian flair. The featured appetizers now are Tahitian drumsticks and a pupu platter with Crab Rangoon, chicken skewers, and cocoanut shrimp -- not too far off from what a traditional polynesian restaurant would offer. Staple entrees include miso-glazed Alaskan sea bass and one other holdout from the original menu, jerk chicken, brined and grilled and served with wasabi mashed potatoes. The rest of the entrees are seasonal.
From what I can tell, the restaurant's bar has a line of signature drinks which includes the classics: Mai Tai, Zombie, and Scorpion Bowl, which appear to be served in tiki mugs. The rooftop patio looks like a great place to drink them too.
