Tahitian Terrace reboot at Disneyland Resort?
When Disney re-themed the Tahitian Terrace at Disneyland into Aladdin's Oasis in 1992, they traded 30 years of Polynesian fun for a new dinner experience that ultimately only operated for two years.
Disneyland guests will probably never get to experience the restaurant again in its original form, but there's a small nugget of hope buried in a press release about an upcoming Disneyland Hotel makeover that elements of the Terrace may resurface again. The Hotel is being renovated to mirror Disneyland itself and plans for the pool area will pick up elements of the Adventureland of yore:
Two new dining locations will be introduced in the current location of Hook’s Pointe, Croc’s Bites and Bits, the Wine Cellar and the Lost Bar. A new “smart casual” dining concept will feature Tahitian architecture that is reminiscent of the ’50s and ’60s era of the hotel and the original Tahitian Terrace restaurant in Disneyland park. A new bar will draw on the adventure theme from the Jungle Cruise attraction.
The pool area rehab is scheduled to be completed by summer of 2011. There's a number of Imagineers who really understand the tiki vibe; hopefully they'll be attached to the project.
