Strange Polynesian Putter / Tiki Gardens connection?

Polynesian Putter cardA few months ago I went to the Polynesian Putter Mini Golf on St. Pete Beach (“Home of the Tiki”), a great no-frills miniature golf course with oversized cement hazards, including a giant moai.

Taking a closer look at the scorecard this weekend, I noticed something strange — the image isn’t that of the moai at the Polynesian Putter, but rather that of “Kahona the Water God” from Tiki Gardens, the now defunct tourist attraction that was once a few miles up the road. Is there a connection, or merely the reuse of some existing art scavanged from a print shop?

  1. I was told the Tiki was purchased at auction when the gardens closed down. The golf course was also shut down eventually and the tiki was sold again. No idea who has it now
