Smuggler’s Cove, San Francisco, CA

Smuggler’s Cove logoIt's been a long time coming, but Martin Cate's new bar, Smuggler's Cove, is now officially open. Lovers of rum drinks have been waiting anxiously since Cate left Forbidden Island, the Alameda tiki bar his cocktails put on the map.

Smuggler's Cove is more than a tiki bar -- the star of the show is rum in all its incarnations, from sipping to Caribbean cocktails to historical maritime concoctions to the tiki drinks he's primarily known for. There are almost 80 mixed drinks on the menu and an additional 200 tasting rums available for patrons to sample. And those who want to sample are rewarded with a membership in The Rumbustion Society.

The decor is nautical with nods to tiki and San Francisco's tiki bar history with items from Skipper Kent's, Tiki Bob and Trader Vic's. The centerpiece is a 3-story indoor waterfall.
