P.F. Chang’s Mai Tai review: A+
PF Chang's China Bistro is a surprisingly good (and affordable) restaurant chain that's been popping up across the country. Their lettuce wraps have spawned imitation from many other restaurateurs.
It's been about a year since I've been to one of their locations, so last night I was paying close attention to the menu when I discovered that they sold a Mai Tai using their "signature recipe." That statement usually sends a shiver down my spine, as the recipe for Trader Vics's Mai Tai was such a closely guarded secret that ordering the beverage often results in receiving something undrinkable.
I'm happy to report that the drink was excellent—very smooth and flavorful (but with a nice kick!). According to the waiter, no orgeat is used in the recipe, so I'll have to press the bartender the next time I visit to see what's in there. It's presented in a very tall, amber bamboo-esque glass with a cherry and a slice of pineapple. All and all, I highly recommend you order this drink at the restaurant.
