Panama to Hawaii on the Liki Tiki Project
In the 1970s, Robert Webb wanted to test the theory that early Polynesian sailors could make the 5,000 mile voyage from Hawaii to New Zealand and Tonga to Easter Island, so he built his own dugout canoe and sailed from Panama to Hawaii.
It took three tries, but but finally made it on "The Liki Tiki II." His website has detailed reports of all three voyages, as well as tips so other brave souls can follow in his footsteps.
