New tiki bar, Thatch, coming to Portland, OR
Portland business-owner Robert Voltz is in the buildout process of a new tiki bar in Portland, Oregon, to be called "Thatch." Robert owns the wine bar "Pour" on N.E. Broadway and 27th and the new bar is supposed to be located a few doors down.
Robert has gone as far as to hire the former bar manager from Portland's old Trader Vic's location as a consultant, so hopes are high that the drinks will be authentic. He's also purchased the decor from Portland's Jasmine Tree, which has been forced to close due to redevelopment of the area.
No word yet on an opening date, but we'll be sure to pass on the news once it's announced.
