Lone Star Uke Fest and Music Camp, Dallas, TX
The first Lone Star Ukulele Festival and Music Camp will come to Texas April 30 - May 2. The event, which is the first such endeavor by local ukulele club Dallas Ukulele Headquarters, features nationwide talent which includes Gerald Ross from Michigan, Victoria Vox from Maryland, Michelle Kiba from Hawaii, Pops Bayless and Bob Guz from Austin, and local talent Gerald Jones and Lu Mitchell.
Activities for musicians and beginners will include uke classes on blues, swing, Hawaiian music, and Tin Pan Alley styles as well as Hawaiian lap steel guitar, song writing, hula dancing, swing guitar, vocal coaching and mandolin.
Two concerts will highlight the instructors and performers. The festival also includes Jam sessions, open-mic night, a silent auction and exhibitor booths to round out the festivals selection of classes and activities for entertainment and learning. Each student receives a goodie bag and Jam Book included in registration.
The ukulele weekend will culminate on Saturday in a luau dinner/concert.
