LEGO SpongeBob back with new Bikini Bottom set complete with tiki bar
I think I may have been more excited than my son when I saw this new LEGO SpongeBob Squarepants set, "Bikini Bottom Undersea Party," in the company's new catalog.
SpongeBob Squarepants was one of the few shows that inserted references to tiki culture when it started in 1999 and LEGO has produced a number of playsets based on the series over the years, but this one packs quite a few elements all into one:
- Squidward's Moai house
- SpongeBob's pineapple house
- a small tiki bar
- 5 minifigures (SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Mrs. Puff, and Gary
- DJ turntable with speakers
A nice plus to this set is the SpongeBob, Patrick and Squidward are all wearing leis. These SpongeBob sets are expensive but tend not to stick around for very long: some of the older sets with less elements are going for hundreds of dollars in the collector's market.
