Saturday, August 13 is International Tiki Day! A chance to kick back, relax, and enjoy some strong drinks and a little slice of the good life in your own hometown.

International Tiki Day is a real, fake holiday, in the tradition of Cinco De Mayo. It takes place the second Saturday of August, and loosely commemorates the successful landing of Thor Heyerdahl 's Kon-Tiki expedition on the Tuamotu Islands on August 7, 1947. This year it also marks the birthday of famed Hawaiian musician Don Ho.

Come celebrate "International Tiki Day" with us again this year by enjoying brunch at the fabulous Chef Shangri-La in beautiful North Riverside, IL on Sunday August 14th from 12:00-3:00. Like last year, we are making it a whole weekend of celebrating!
If you were there last year, or the past weekend for Exotica, you know that Susan and the crew put out a nice spread, and the drinks are superb.

A local surf band The Deoras will be playing on the lawn at 5:00. Please bring a tent and your camping gear if you would like to stay over night. As customary, will have the tradtional blue pancakes and pink eggs in the morning on Sunday. Please bring grinds to share and any booze or punches are greatly appreciated, as well as firewood for the fire pit. Oh and please, please bring ice!!! We can never have too much ice! A grill will be provided for cooking. Bring lawn chairs or beach chairs so there is plenty of seating.
