Hukilau 2005, Ft. Lauderdale
Once again, the tiki faithful invade Ft. Lauderdale and its famous Mai-Kai restaurant for three days of fun and frolic.
This year's Hukilau has a little something for everybody—a slide show from googie architecture archeologist and author Charles Phoenix, a merchandise room full of goodies for sale, a meet and greet with exotica maven Yma Sumac and pin-up photographer Bunny Yager, live music from WAITIKI, Dames A'Flame, and Robert Dresdin, and finally, on Saturday, dinner at the wonderfully intact Mai-Kai restaurant.
Day and weekend passes are available for the events. The dinner at the Mai-Kai may have sold out by now, however.
