Double Trouble is a tiki in Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure
Now this is embarrassing: this weekend my 11-year old son asked me if I knew about Double Trouble, a character in the super-popular Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure game who is a tiki. I didn't. Needless to say, off we were to Google.
Skylanders is a video game for Wii, XBox, Playstation 3, Nintendo DS, Windows and Mac with an ingenious twist guaranteed to empty wallets -— to unlock characters in the game, players have to purchase plastic figurines and place them on a "portal" to transport them into the game. RFID chips in the figures and a receiver in the portal allow the toys to communicate with the game. The "starter set" comes with the game, portal accessory and 3 figures for around $65; additional figures cost around $9 a pop. The game is well-reviewed and seems well suited to the 8-10 age range, although other ages get enjoyment out of the game as well.
