Disney vying for “Tiki” movie script from Frank Zappa’s son

Enchanted Tiki Room DrumThe Hollywood Reporter broke the story yesterday that Disney is in negotiations to buy a spec script from Ahmet Zappa and Michael Wilson set in the world of Polynesian mythology.

Zappa and Wilson’s Tiki is set in Hawaii and takes in the culture’s rich reserve of unique gods, embodied by wooden masks and engravings, as well as ghost stories.

The film was initially rumored to be based on The Enchanted Tiki Room attraction at Disneyland, but Disney has denied the connection. More likely the company's new Hawaiian Resort, Aulani, will be the synergy recipient as it opens in August of 2011.
