Boutiki shop at Disney’s Polynesian Resort
Disney's Polynesian Resort is being slowly overhauled to bring it up to modern standards. The hotel room "wings" have been closed and made-over one by one, while the Great Ceremonial House, which houses the check in facilities, shops, and restaurants has been getting incremental upgrades over the last decade.
Last weekend I got to take a few minutes to see one of the most recent updates. The facility's old South Seas Dining Room has been removed and replaced with "Boutiki," a tiki-themed gift shop. It has all the usual Disney junk for sale, but also offers a small selection of aloha shirts, cheap toy ukuleles, and tiki mugs. They've done a pretty nice job though with the interior, using very cartoony tikis and the like as elements in the store's interior.
The previous merchandise location, Outrigger's Cove, has been closed off with sliding doors and looks to have been emptied. I had heard from a cast member about a year ago that this location was to become the resort's arcade.
