AKUwear & Thorsten Hasenkamm tikify Europe
Artist Thorsten Hasenkamm has been reviving tiki art and culture in his native Germany and across Europe since 2004 (he's had many shows in the US too!). Now he's bringing his blend of cartoon modern style, retro culture, and tiki to the masses with a new commercial venture, AKUwear.
AKUwear combines fashion, commerce, and art with a unique proposition: each of the men's t-shirts produced by the company are a limited-edition of 250, with the number sewn into the sleeve. Shirt-buyers then receive access to post photos of themselves in the shirt on the company's website.
